Katarzyna Danys is an archaeologist and ceramologist graduated from the Insitute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw, working in Polish Center of Mediterranean Archaeology, University of Warsaw.
She is interested in ceramics and economic changes in the Late Antiquity and medieval period in the Nile Valley, focusing on the exchange and trade networks in a prism of pottery finds. As a member of Polish missions in Egypt and Sudan She has a possibility to investigate diverse ceramics finds discovered on different types of archaeological sites (towns, settlements, monasteries, hermitages, cemeteries). She is also interested of functional aspects of pottery and its place in the everyday life of past societies. She participate in the project Oriental Institute Nubian Expedition publication, and provide research on the pottery collected during excavations in Qasr el-Wizz monastery, as well as on the clay and glass objects from this site.
